Grow or give up
Ned, Bo, Motlet and Dukey were riding their Harleys through Malibooboo anddecided to pull over for a beer in the woods. Dukey was beginning to get heat from some close friends because of his newfound faith. Dukey became aware his new life was under the microscope.
He would still drink with his friends, but tried to count a max of four unless it was a long day to be spirit filled and sober minded. Every once in a long while if someone had some weed he might take a few puffs but this time was different. As Bo passed me the joint, Neddy said, “I thought Christians weren’t supposed to get high.”
Dukey knew his response was supposed to be: “The Scripture Says To be Sober Minded.” but it couldn’t come out.
“The Scrip-p-pt. ...”
He tried again, “The Scip-tur-r-r. ...”
He couldn’t say it. Once more, “The S-S-S-says.”
At that point he was convicted not to smoke weed again in what Dukey believed was a Holy Revelation. That was the end of one of the Back Bay Bongers of Boylston Street Boston!!
Dukey became aware that a commitment to Jesus Christ meant life had to change. Drinking in excess. Smoking. Foul language. That was only a beginning.
